The Hebron JV Boys Basketball team won the PCC JV tournament championship on Jan. 6th by defeating Boone Grove 31-30. This game was definitely a defensive battle as Hebron was held to a season low 4 points in the 1st quarter. The young Hawks returned the favor by holding Boone to just 2 points in the second quarter giving themselves a 16-14 halftime lead. Boone Grove came back to lead most of the 2nd half, including a 24-23 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Boone still lead by 1 and had the ball with 30 seconds left. But a Mike Briggs steal and lay-up gave the Hawks a 1 point lead. Boone had 2 different chances with the ball at the end of the game, but great defense by the Hawks didn’t allow them to score as Hebron won their first JV PCC tournament in 6 years. Hebron scorers were: Matt Kubiak with 9 points, Peyton Syrovatka had 8, Rhyker Schatz had 6, and David Steffan and Mike Briggs each had 4. Hebron is now 9-2 on the season and remains 4-1 in the PCC.
