Boys Varsity Baseball · Hawks Spotlight: Jackson Peeler, Baseball

Name: Jackson Peeler
Sport: Baseball
Year: Sophomore
Reason you wear your number: My dad was born on the 17th, and his favorite player (Mark Grace) was number 17… so he decided his number was going to be 17. I thought it would be cool to be the same number as him, so ever since I could pick my own number, I have been number 17.
Seeds or gum? What flavor? Both; seeds: Taco Supreme; gum: it doesn’t matter.
Walk up song and why? I am a big Eminem fan, and “’till I collapse” is one of his most motivational songs so that’s why I picked it.
Favorite MLB team? Cubs
Favorite MLB player?
I don’t have an individual favorite player; I just like a variety of guys. I like Baez, Yelich and Albert Almora as my top three.
Favorite Coach Steinhilber saying: “Hey…how you supposed to be wearing your hat?”
Team goals: Win state.
Individual goals: I want to break batting records, make a record low errors on the field and have the most strikeouts by a pitcher in our PCC this year.
Your biggest baseball influence and why: Probably my dad because he taught me everything he knew about baseball and was always there for me whether it was coaching, going to all my games, working on all my fields, giving me advice. You name it, and he’s done it.
Why do you love baseball? I love baseball because I have played my entire life, and it is just something that I can do and forget about everything else. It is just the most fun sport in the world and I will always love baseball.
Coach Straka or Coach Wiltfang? Wilt… he’s got the experience.
