The Hebron track and field teams opened their respective seasons with double dual victories over visiting LaCrosse and Covenant Christian on Tuesday.
The Hawks girls defeated the Tigers 98-30 and edged the Knights 70-62, while the boys bested the Knights 81-35 and the Tigers 108-5.
In the girls meet, Grace Brown (400, 1:24.7) and Meghan Bateman (300 hurdles, 53.1) were individual winners. The 3,20o relay of Sidney Elijah, Gabrielle Waggoner, Jamie Veenstra and Kylie Cole took first in 13:31. The 1,600 relay led the field in 5:06.4.
The list of seconds included Bateman (100 hurdles), Stephanie Hano (shot put and discus), Veenstra (long jump), Elijah (1600), Alexys Rippe (400), Lia Panagiotidis (300 hurdles), Madison Elijah (3,200) and Gwen Weaver (pole vault).
For the boys, Trevor Hoffman (shot put and discus) and Jacob Stewart (hurdles) were decisive double winners with Hoffman posting personal bests. Newcomer Robert Summerville backed Stewart in both hurdles races.
Noah Weaver (11:43) and Max Pastrick (11:54) went one-two in the 3200 with Connor Williams (5:03) and Weaver (5:05) doing the same in the 1,600. Cody Noel added a second in the 800 (2:18).
