They’re called student-athletes for a reason.
Hebron wrestlers Ethan Wilson (152 pounds), Patrick Adamczyk (182) and Dominic Csomos (220) have been named academic all-state with the latter pair earning repeat honors from last season.
“This is a huge feather in our cap, especially since Pat and Dom are two-timers,” coach Todd Adamczyk said. “I hope that it encourages the younger guys to follow their example.”
All three Hawks explained how they are able to manage both sports and school and maintain them at a high level.
Wilson: “I balance academics and athletics by splitting up what I need to do at the time being, and tackling each problem as they come at me, whether the problem is an opponent or an essay.”
Csomos: “I focus on one thing at a time. I make sure that when I wrestle, all I think about is wrestling. The same goes for academics and anything in life.”
Adamczyk: “I always keep my priorities in order. It’s student-athlete, not athlete-student. Being able to compete after school is the reward for all the hard work during the day.”
Ewan Donovan (2017-18) was Hebron’s first academic all-state wrestler.
